What is Hamlet's attitude towards women? Think of his earlier criticism of Gertrude -- "Frailty thy name is woman" -- as well as the way he treats Ophelia in this act.

Even though it may sound harsh, Hamlet´s attitude towards women is not good at all. On one side, he thinks some women are vile traitors like his mother and on the other, women like Ophelia who are naive because of love. To some degree, he has a good reason to thnk of his mother the way he is because everything tells that his mother, with Claudius help, set up his father. His attitude towards Ophelia is selfish, since he isn´t taking in consideration her feelings and how bad he can hurt them. This attitude Hamlet has towards both women is due primarily to his need of avenging his father´s death, no matter what.

  2. Hamlet´s attitude towards women now, I think is bad, well he doesnt like the idea about his mom marriage to Claudius. He thinks that her mom is really inmature, that the marriage isnt proper, and above all its really disrecpectful to the memory of the old king. Well he love Ophelia, and use to think that she was a stronger women, but now he realized that she is really weak, and that her dad controls her and manipulate her.

Hamlet's attitude towards women is very agressive. He always tries to make women feel weak towards him. I think he is always triyng to make them feel bad about what ever things they do. Women don't play a big role in the life of Hamlet, now that he is acting very crazy he makes a lot of comments that really confuse all women and really don't know how to respond him. He gives the impression that he is a very dominant men when interacting with women.

  4. Hamlet's attitude towards women is not positive at all. It seems like on one hand he is dessapointed of women and on the other he is angry at them. He is dissapointed about her mother's actions of marrying his uncle after his father died. Then, he treats Ophelia with violence and angry (after he discovered that he was being spied on). Plus he is acting nuts, which makes things even more complicated.

After all the things he has done now he is actting crazy infront o women also, he doesnt give credit to womens, they are not loger part of his life

  6. Hamlets attitude towards women is violent. He is with every right mad at Gertrude because of marring Claudius, but he acts agressive towards women in general, thats not right. Ophelia was treated really bad in the act we saw today, she didint deserve that, he blamed her because of the love they once had but it wasnt her fault and he knows it and he keeps being a jerk.

I think that Hamlets attitude towards woman is unacceptable. He treats them as if they are nothing but a weakness and only takes advantage of them. He treated Ophelia horribly and for a second I thought that he was going to be alright when he kissed her, but then his rage came out and it was just agressive and mean.

  8. Hamlet's view towards women, I think, is somehow "old". I feel as if he sees women as infirior, that in that time I suppose it was common. Still for a erson like Hamlet, that I consider reflectve, i would expect another attitude towards women a more equal treatment. I think he also has this image beacuse a women that is so essential in his life, his mom, has dissapointed him is such a bad and huge way. He treats women as someone with a low level of comprehension. sometmes I feel he speaks to Ophelia as if she was dumb or stupid. I dond't like the way he treats women or expresses his feelings to them but I suppose most men at that time were like him or worse.

I think Hamlets mother is responsible for his attitude about woman. I believe he is dissapointed, and that is reflected on his acts. His mother married his brother who porabably killed his own father, his idea about woman making decisions might be twisted. Still i do not agree on the way he treats Ophelia and woman generally, like they were inferior or as if we didnt have feelings.

  11. Hamlet's attitude towards women vary a lot in the play. First, before coming back he loved Ophelia and his mother. Now, he despies his mother for marrying so soon, and thinks Ophelia is naive and a fool for love. Hamlet's attitude towards his mother is more significant, because can't accept the fact that her mother remarried so soon after his father's death. It is all Gertrude's fault

  12. Hamlet has a vaery strange attitude towards womem, we can see how he is always angry with his mother cause she married to his uncle Claudius, and Ophelia who he thinks is pretending to love him to find out information. He has hate inside towards women he thinks they can´t be trusted and they don´t show the truth.

  13. Hamlet's view of women is the same as who everyone viewed women at the time. They were in a way "inferior" to men, and they had no say in society.

  14. Hamlets attitude towards is bad since he thinks woman are only to love them and have sex with them. He always pushes Ophelia and his mom and talks loud to them like dont cares. Hamlet can see his mom almost like a prostitute because she had married his uncle.

  15. Hamlet's attitude towards women is that they are careless beings and that they should always subordinate to men. This is due in large part because his exposure to women is primarily through his mother and Ophelia. While he condemns Gertrude for being submissive towards Claudius, he himself takes advantage of the feelings Ophelia has for him.
In summation, Hamlet thinks women are weak.

  16. Hamlet's attitude towards women is repulsion in some way. He thinks they are fragile and worthless. He is mad athis mother but he kind of shows some signs of love towards Ophelia but his hatred and hunger of revange makes him act as a monster towards poor Ophelia.
