What is Gertrude’s responsibility for all that has taken place, according to Hamlet?

According to you?

I put myself on Hamlet's shoes. Probably, I could almost swear, I would go mad too. Gertrude did it all wrong. She married her dead husband's brother, within a month of his murder. It should be a crime to do that haha. No respesct towards the murdered king nor to his son. It is simply so wrong she should have noticed before that what she is doing is inmoral.

  2. I think that Gertrude passed the line. How could she do it, if she loved Hamlets dad so much how could she get married with the brother of the dead king. Its not just inmoral, its sick, in order to do that you need to either be mentally blocked, or be just crazy. That was the worst desicion to make from Gertrudes part.

  3. Gertrude´s had a lot of reponsability about what has and is happening now. She was so weak about marrying Claudius, because Claudius what Claudius wanted the mos was being king and if Gertrude woudnt married him Claudius maybe woundt be the king, and for Hamlet all things will be easier. He will have less problems.

  4. I think Gertrude is responsible of Hamlets anger and crazyness. Yes, I would feel horrible if my mom married my uncle but if she was really in love with him its fine. She never knew about the killing of his old husband and the ghost was not mad with her. Hamlet is blaming her of being a bad woman because she married a man who killed his father .

  5. I think Gertrude has some responsability in what has taken place. It's not her fault that her husband was killed, but I don't think she managed this very well. Insteas of respecting his husband and wait a while to marry another person, his husband's son, she married Claudius right away and pretended like her husband's death never happened. If she had respected her husband and wait a while, Hamlet would not be so mad and people would not be killed.

I think that my opinion about Gertrude´s responsability for all the dissaster is similar to Hamlet´s. Gertrude has been responsible for all the craziness and unrest in Elsinore. It seems that she probably had an affair with Claudius before King Hamlet was murdered because she married Claudius without hesitation and within a month. In other words, she is Claudius accomplice. In addition, she has been selfish because by marrying Claudius, she hasn´t respected his dead husband´s memory and his son´s feelings and sanity. I think that only a crazy and sick person would be able to do this with any apparent remorse.

  7. Gertrude is responsible for Hamlets madness. Imagine how he feels when hes mother has done all the things Hamlet hates. She married to his uncle, Hamlet knows his uncle killed his own father, now the murderer sleeps with his mother. Gertrudes doesnt care how Hamlet feels, she is responsible for everything.

  8. I think Gertrude is responsible for almost every issue that's going on in the play. Except from the fact that Claudius killed Hamlet sr., Gertrude has commited many mistakes that has lead Hamlet Jr to maddness and to cause trouble in all the story. First she remarried quickly to his ex-husbands brother without telling Hamlet, so that caused him to be mad. Gertrude is responsible for everything

  9. I think that Gertrude is 100% responsible for how crazy Hamlet is becoming. Going through such a crazy and unreal process as your mom marrying your uncle is horrible and every normal person would go crazy from that. She is making everyone crazy because if she hadn't gone with the horrible evil uncle, then none of this would have happened.

  11. I think Gertrude is responsible for all what has happened, she was the one who cheated on Hamlet´s father from the begining, she was the one who got married right after the king was murdered. She was the one who caused all the hate inside Hamlet. All the actions that have taken place were caused by her and all the tragedies are her fault.

  12. Gertrude has a lot of responsibility of the king’s murder. Since the beginning she had a romance with Claudius and this must have been a reason for why Claudius had another reason to kill the king. This way he would’ve been able to stay with the power and the one he loved, his mistress. Besides she should’ve at least waited a year to re-marry. I think she is also trying to avoid the truth, thinking that Claudius is the most wonderful person and that he is doing it all right, but deep inside she knows thing are running smoothly.

  14. I think the now kig has more responsibility than Hertrude. He crafted the whole plan in his head; murdered his brother in cold blood and seduced Gertrude into marrying him. Offcourse Gertrude isnt inoscent, but it's not "her fault".

  17. According to Hamlet, Gertrude's responsibility for all that has taken place is allowing things to happen. Hamlet condemns his mother for not doing anything about Claudius and, worse, even going on to marry him and please him and letting him get away with his wrongful deeds.
I think she should have exiled Claudius and put Hamlet on the throne. She should never ever sleep with Claudius; that symbolizes her giving in to his authority.

  18. I think Gertrude is no totally guilty of what has happened, but it was wrong of her to re-marry. She acts kind of indifferent to everything that is going on lately, but apart from that i dont think she has done anything else wrong. Hamlet should not hold her mother for all the responsability.
